Stony Point Fashion Park , Richmond, VA

Check-in: 9:00am Start time: 10:30am

In 2020, we are celebrating 18 years of NAMIWalks, the nation's largest series of mental health awareness and fundraising events. NAMIWalks Virginia brings together families, friends, and communities to raise awareness for mental health and crucial funds which enable NAMI Virginia and our local NAMI affiliates to provide truly transformational education programs and support groups to youth, families, and adults free of cost. NAMIWalks is a celebration of recovery.

NAMIWalks is a fun, family-friendly event and there is no cost to register.

There are many ways you can make a difference via NAMIWalks: as a sponsor, committee member, team captain or team member, individual walker, virtual walker, or walk day volunteer!

However you participate in NAMIWalks, you will be joining NAMI's national movement!

Over the past few years, our NAMI Coastal team has been the highest fundraising team in the state! We'd love to have you join our team or create your own.

Can't make it to the walk? No problem! You can be a virtual walker as well!

Click the links below or follow these simple steps to make it happen:

1.  Go to www.namiwalks.org and click on FIND A WALK

2.  Choose Virginia and then click on NAMIWalks Stony Point Fashion Park, Richmond

3.  Now click on Register to Walk

4.  Here, you either log into your account from a previous year or create a new account.

Our marvelous Team Captain, John Ickes aka GreenRibbonGrandstander, would be happy to help (or have your help) with anything.

He can be reached at (757)286-7051.

Join our team!

Together, we are moving closer to a world where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares.

Here are just a few reasons people have shared about why they walk:

"We're all a team - here to support and encourage each other along the way"

"NAMI brings families together. This is the 8th year my sister has walked with me."

"I know recovery is possible, and because I care about your health"

"So it's OK to ask for help"

"To end stigma. My mental illness doesn't define me!"

"For my mom. Because mental illness doesn't mean she's worthless."

"For my recovery"

"For my other half"

"In memory of grandma"

"To kick depression's butt!"

Beyond helping the continuation of free educational/support programs for your community and helping to end the stigma, click the link below to learn other ways your fundraising efforts are recognized!

Why walk?

All funds raised directly support the mission of NAMI to provide support, education, and advocacy to individuals and families right here in our community.

  • The cost of material for one participant in one of our courses including Family-to-Family, Peer-to-Peer, or NAMI Basics is covered by $100

  • $5 covers the cost of one welcome/information packet for a participant in our Family Support Groups

  • For our Connection Support Group facilitators, $100 can cover a yearly transportation stipend or a training session

  • $70 provides for one In Our Own Voice presentation

  • Our Quarterly Meetings - including a volunteer recognition event - can be supported by $500 which provides transportation for Beach House members, dinner, and promotion.

  • To keep our Helpline running and a space for volunteers to be available for support and answers, $380 covers monthly rent, and $125 covers monthly phone and internet service

  • $30 covers costs of mailing, including advertising, office supplies, and postage

  • Any amount helps us with the ability to collaboratively explore new solutions and expand our programming in to our community. We couldn't do this without you!
